    This book provides the practical techniques to help the MMIC designer maintain the cost advantage by pro- ducing high-yielding MMIC designs. Basic Design Process The following chapters of this book are laid out in the order of the basic design process, assuming that the MMIC designer is in possession of the full requirement specification. A typical MMIC PA is depicted in Figure []. Depending on design requirements, a multi-device realization is the common choice in MMIC PA, in order to fulfill both the constraints on output power (proportional to the number of the active devices in the last stage) and gain (related to the number of stages, generally two or three).
